April 2018

With 2018 already in full swing, I thought it was about time that my ‘Monthly Must-Haves’ kick off as well. I know it would’ve been better to have started this category from the beginning of the year, but I myself would not have been able to commit to it. So let’s hope that from here on we will have a regular update on my ‘Monthly Must-Haves’.

Must-Have 1:

Lately I’ve been indulging in adding faux glasses to my style artillery. On the adverse side I’ve battled to find just the right style (frame, shape, design) that suits the shape of my face. These bad boys here, I personally feel, were designed just for me. Even though that might not be the case, they manage to fit both the shape of my face and the state of my personality.

[Needless to say, but I’ve worn them almost everyday since I purchased them]

Must-Have 2:

This one was rather interesting for me. I’ve never  really enjoyed accessorising with jewellery, especially rings. In all honesty I hadn’t put much effort into trying to incorporate rings into my ensembles anyway. I guess I just needed the right pair to get me started… And now I’m hooked.

Must-Have 3:

It seems as though Winter will be making its appearance much sooner this year. So I thought that I’d beat the cold with this modal/cotton hybrid zip-up sweater. This piece continues to show its versatility whether styling it as a statement piece (on its own) or as another component for a layered look. That deep teal colour attracts the eye so effortlessly and of course the zip detail seals the deal.

Must-Have 4:

These are easily the penultimate ‘Must-Have’ on this month’s list. I cannot stop obsessing over these brogue wingtip boots in charcoal grey. There is absolutely no need for me to try to convince you to love them. Not loving these is equivalent to not loving puppies… which coincidentally is what I refer to them as…. My Puppies!!

That’s a wrap on April’s Monthly Must-Haves. See you again in May!!

August 2019

I think this category should have been called Yearly Must-Haves and not Monthly Must-Haves… I mean it’s taken me a year and a few months to post the next instalment of ‘Monthly Must-Haves’. So if any of you reading this thought about being cynical and using that line, well I guess I beat you to it!

On a lighter note, I’m happy to bring you the next instalment of Monthly Must-Haves and I’m pretty excited for this one. In this instalment, I’ve shared 5 colognes you need to own… or at least try out.

Mugler Alien Man Eau de Toilette

Product Description:

*An assertive and irresistible fragrance, leather and cashmeran wood transform you into a Mugler Man, while a hint of Osmanthus ties it in with it’s alter ego.

When I saw that Mugler was releasing Alien Man because of the largely successful Alien perfume, I honestly made it my business to get this cologne. As said in the description it is quite assertive, but once your senses come into contact with this scent you’ll find yourself lingering for longer than you bargained for.

The Body Shop Arber Eau de Toilette

Product Description:

*This eau de toilette for men has citrus top notes, a heart of coriander and mint and an earthy, woody base of sandalwood.

This was a new one for me. I’m a big fan of The Body Shop’s skincare products, but never thought to try their colognes. Call me a snob, but I honestly wouldn’t have considered purchasing cologne if it wasn’t ‘designer’ cologne. Well needless to say, it was a complete oversight from my end and at R335.00, Arber has become my new daily companion.

Ralph Lauren Big Pony 3 Eau de Toilette

Product Description:

*An intense, spicy fragrance. It’s main notes are mint and ginger, with a hint of bergamot.

If you ask any fashion enthusiast about the Ralph Lauren brand, you will almost always be to about it’s innate luxury sensibilities. They will also tell you that it is a high-end brand and with that comes a pretty hefty price tag for it’s products. So when this was gifted to me on my birthday a few years ago, there was no turning back. I’d become a member of the Polo Club… sigh that was such a bad joke. Let’s just say I’ve made a few repurchases.

Calvin Klein In2U Him Eau de Toilette

Product Description:

* Described as charismatic and uninhibited. Top notes of lemon and tomato leaf with heart notes of cacao pod. It’s base notes include vetiver, cedar and white musk.

Another one that was gifted to me by one of my very good friends, but one I’d actually never heard of. It’s beautifully delicate and has more of a meaningful whisper than a pointless roar… BARS!!!!! Hahahaha…

Burberry London Eau de Toilette

Product Description:

*A sophisticated scent with top notes of bergamot, lavender and warm cinnamon. Artfully balanced heart notes of mimosa flower and rich leather. Lower notes combine heady tobacco leaves and dense oak moss to complete this distinctive and refined fragrance.

If it’s not already apparent, I would to formally mention that I’ve saved the best for last. The Burberry London cologne is HANDS DOWN, HATS OFF, THUMBS UP my favourite cologne of my existence… Don’t judge my dramatic descriptions please. It is the ultimate lovechild of elegance and sophistication, in my very dramatic opinion. If you don’t try anything else from this list, TRY THIS ONE!! Ok I’m done shouting.

And with that, August’s Monthly Must-Haves has come to a close. Let me know what you think of my mentions above. What are the 5 colognes you’d recommend? Let’s get a conversation going.

Let’s see if September holds the third instalment of Monthly Must-Haves.
