So I know my last blogpost was in March, you don’t have to mention it. This inconsistency has to stop, I know I know! I guess creativity just cannot be rushed… Wow, is that not THE MOST obnoxious thing you’ve heard in a while? On a serious note I’m excited to be writing again and may I add a fashion piece this time. My last two posts were more of a personal reflection of multiple events that had transpired and the build up thereof so this was a nice pick-me-up.

For those who may be reading this post from South Africa, Winter has finally graced us with it’s presence and I don’t know about you, but I’m of the opinion that the level of men’s fashion increases exponentially (I’m probably exaggerating a bit) during this time. It is the time for men to step up their fashion prowess. Of all the style tips and tricks we could unpack, statement pieces is usually one of the first tips any style enthusiast will mention.

Whether it is the colour, design, fabric, print/pattern, having an article of clothing that “makes a statement” and more importantly the RIGHT statement will serve you well this season.

This is not going to be a long and wordy post. I honestly just wanted to feature this raincoat I copped from Zara Man earlier this year. Needless to say, it’s been making a statement ever since I laid eyes on it and you better believe I’ll be using it to make all kinds of fashion statements from this point on.

I also feel the need to address the obvious, yes it is a raincoat and it probably won’t be as functional in Winter as it would in Summer (in Joburg more specifically), but hey it more than makes up for it in being unapologetically fashionable.

Side Note- Houndstooth is hands down my favourite print! It is innately classy and timeless. You can quote me on that!

I feel like I should close out this post with a killer ending, so here it goes… You need to ask yourself; “Am I going to make a statement this season or will I merely be part of the conversation?” [Waits for applause…]
